Dr. Catherine Ma (she/her/hers) is a Full Professor of Psychology at Kingsborough Community College, CUNY, and a board member of the Asian American/Asian Research Institute of CUNY. She earned her Ph.D. and M.Phil. from CUNY’s Graduate Center in social-personality psychology with a certification in interactive technology and pedagogy. She uses her research expertise to empower her students, infuse antiracism in her pedagogy, and fight against injustices. She is the first Chinese full professor in her department but will not be the last. She worked hard to become full and is willing to share all her knowledge with others who are facing similar invisible obstacles. Systemic racism and other systems of oppression are her biggest obstacles, but she loves a challenge and fights every day to make it easier for others to follow in her footsteps as she brings a slew of others through the door.
