Dr. Reem Jaafar is a professor of mathematics and the Director of Research, Evaluation & Program Support for the Queens STEM Academy at LaGuardia Community College. As the former faculty leader in the College senate, she led the response to the COACHE survey and championed transparency in tenure and promotion data. She co-led the College Self-Study for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, which resulted in multiple commendations from the visiting team in 2022. Dr. Jaafar has mentored undergraduate student research projects and co-directed a peer tutoring program that increased graduation rates for STEM students by 28%. Dr. Jaafar earned certificates in Inclusive STEM Teaching and Student Success Analytics, which widened her scholarly activities to include Equity focused assessment of students' outcomes. She has multiple professional affiliations and is a co-PI on several grants, including the Black, Race, and Ethnic Studies Initiative and the U.S. the Department of Education.
