Dr. Brown (he/him/his) is the LaGuardia Community College (LaGCC) BRESI Jumpstart Mentor. At LaGCC, he is a Professor of Health Sciences, Director of the Public & Community Health Program, and Co-Director of the forthcoming Liberal Arts: Health Humanities Program. Additionally, Dr. Brown is the Executive Director of the Center for LGBTQ Studies (CLAGS), based at the CUNY Graduate Center. Dr. Brown’s work mainly resides in the areas of program development and intervention evaluation. His collaborative research addresses health inequities among persons of color, LGBT, youth, and those populations at the intersection through asset-based approaches. Previously, Dr. Brown was the Deputy Director of the CUNY Institute for Health Equity, based at Lehman College, and worked for several years running one of the only national social service agencies dedicated exclusively to working with LGBTQ youth of color. Brown completed his doctoral training with a health concentration in the Critical Social-Personality Psychology program at the CUNY Graduate Center.
