CUNY Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access Conference 2023

The sixth biennial University-wide diversity conference returns to a live format at the CUNY Graduate Center, scheduled for Thursday March 30 and Friday March 31, 2023.

Formerly known as the CUNY Faculty Diversity and Inclusion Conference, it has been rebranded to move beyond compositional diversity of race and gender to now focus on how both equity and access work in tandem to realize a greater sense of inclusion and belonging at CUNY.

The new conference name – CUNY Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access (C-IDEA) – reflects this aspirational goal.

The 2023 conference theme is The Illusion of Inclusion – Collaborative Solutions for Performative Diversity.

Sharing quantitative and qualitative stories, the conference is seeking an array of solutions for the CUNY context and achieved through open-minded dialogue. Through the lens of CUNY faculty, staff and students, these solutions may have emerged from the disruption of the pandemic in New York City.

For example, all agree about the value of community, but what does this look like and how do we move beyond statements to actionable activities? What has been the level of dedication to their implementation so that all voices are heard? How to create engaged dialogues to improve equity? And who continues to be marginalized? We propose to explore the synergies of these new models.
