Flash Talk Guidelines

Flash Talks are Due May 5, 2026

A flash talk is an individual presentation that summarizes your research in 8-12-minutes, accompanied by slides. For the Capstone Showcase, we would like you to present your topic, theoretical perspective, methods and materials, results, and the applications or implications of your findings.

A suggestion for the sequencing of your presentation:

  • What is this about? – aka Introduction
  • Define the topic
  • Explain why the topic matters
  • Present your hypotheses
  • How did you do it? - aka Method
  • Participants or Populations impacted (if appropriate; sample size, mean age, gender distribution, race/ethnicity/ education)
  • Measures
  • Procedure (online or in person, how long participation took)
  • What did you find?
  • Summary of the results (tests you ran and findings)
  • Limitations and future directions (one of each)
  • Implications
