NYC Youth Services: Then and Now

The CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS) Youth Studies program launches our 2023 programming with in-depth conversations examining the ways that New York City policies have supported youth agencies, and what's changed for the needs of the future.

Instructor Lumumba Akinwole-Bandele, organizer with the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement and an adjunct lecturer at CUNY SPS, moderates this virtual conversation with panelists Jason Warwin and Majida Abdul-Karim, professionals with a unique perspective on today's ever-changing environment.

NYC Youth Services: Then & Now

Wednesday, January 11, 2023, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Join us for a conversation exploring the NYC Youth service landscape of the early 1990s.

This era experienced a significant amount of organizations servicing the diverse youth population throughout NYC. We will examine the city policies that supported the many youth organizations around the city and answer questions like:

  • Where are they now?
  • How the landscape has shifted?
  • What valuable lessons were learned?
  • How that time has informed youth service provision today?

We hope that you can join us for this virtual event!
