MaryAnne Marshall, MD, graduated from the CUNY School of Medicine in 2022 as one of four inaugural awardees of the Narrative Medicine Track of Distinction. Her body of narrative work leading up to the award primarily reflected on what it means to be a healer in need of healing and on being a fat, queer woman of Irish/Jamaican lineage who unapologetically takes up space. She currently works as a research analyst in the Department of Psychiatry at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where she explores social determinants of (mental) health and the intersections of healthcare and criminal justice.
