Speaker Bio
Patricia Childers, a NYC-based designer and educator, teaches graphic design, typography and design theory. She is an adjunct professor at Pratt Institute, The Fashion Institution of Technology, and The New York City College of Technology. She received her BFA from Rhode Island School of Design, an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts, and studied critical studies at NYU’s Graduate School of Arts and Science. Throughout a career focused on graphic design and critical studies in the educational environment, she has seen intellectual engagement as a place of possibilities. Studies at VCFA bolstered her interest in writing that explores the role of culture on design and design on culture. Besides teaching, she through her design studio, P Childers Design. She serves on the AIGA’s Design Educator’s Committee Steering Committee, is co-director of Tipo, Cibo, Vino, a letterpress workshop in Cornuda Italy, and is an active member of several design organizations.
