Jayashree Kamblé is Professor of English at LaGuardia Community College and the President of the International Association for the Study of Popular Romance (iaspr.org). She teaches courses on writing and literature through a cultural studies perspective. She recently co-edited the Routledge Research Companion to Popular Romance Fiction (2021) and is the author of the forthcoming Creating Identity: The Popular Romance Heroine’s Journey to Selfhood and Self-Presentation (Indiana University Press, 2023). She is developing a history of BIPOC romance novels with the help of a Mellon/American Council of Learned Societies fellowship and a CUNY Black, Race, and Ethnic Studies Initiative (BRESI) research grant. She reviews academic articles for the Journal of Popular Romance Studies (jprstudies.org) and romance novels for the trade publication Kirkus Reviews.
