Shiraz Mujtaba is a Professor of Biology at the City University of New York. Dr. Mujtaba got his Ph.D. in 1999 from the Post- Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India. His PhD thesis focused on the molecular- and immuno -pathogenesis of HIV/AIDS. Before that, he got Master’s in Science from the University of Roorkee, currently Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee. Dr. Mujtaba's research interests concentrate on understanding the molecular basis of gene regulation directed by epigenetic mechanisms. Journals and funding agencies often contact him for peer review. He continues to be a member of the American Association for Advancement of Sciences and the American Society of Microbiology. In the past, he was a member of the New York Academy of Sciences and the American Association of Cancer Research. One of the major academic endeavors of Dr. Mujtaba is to mentor students to become next-gen scientists and entrepreneurs.
