Jenna Spevack is a Professor in City Tech’s Communication Design Department and Co-Director of City Tech’s OpenLab, an open-source digital platform for students, faculty, and staff. She has served as OpenLab Co-Director since 2011, under the college’s Title V individual development grant, “A Living Laboratory” (2011-2016), and as part of several related collaborative grants including “Connect the Dots” MSEIP (Minority Science and Engineering Improvement Program) Grant, Design Integration (2022-2025). In addition to directing the design and development of City Tech’s OpenLab and the publicly released, CBOX OpenLab, Prof. Spevack helped to create the university’s first Bachelors of Fine Arts in Communication Design, a Bachelors Degree in Emerging Media, a certificate in Interactive Media, and currently in progress, a GRTI-funded Collaboratory for faculty and student research in immersive media. She has taught courses in design theory, web design, interactive media, animation, digital illustration, and design foundations.
