Maya Berrol-Young is a graduate student at Hunter College School of Education as part of the New York City Teaching Fellows Special Education 7-12 Program. She also teaches history at a 9-12 non-specialized high school in Manhattan. Over the past five years, Maya has taught in a variety of educational settings including with students with disabilities in museum education programs, international university students at NYU Shanghai, as a Fulbright Fellow in Thailand, and currently in her role as a Special Educator at The Facing History School. In her teaching practice, she is interested in centering identity and how identities inform social justice movements throughout history. Her research and pedagogical interests include incorporating disability studies into the K-12 humanities curriculum, inclusive research, and museum education. She earned her B.A. from Bryn Mawr College in Art and Politics.
