Maya Alperin joined CUNY Law’s Admissions team in May 2015 and currently serves as the Assistant Director for Data and Enrollment Analytics. Maya is passionate about the law school’s mission to diversify the legal profession and commitment to public service and utilizing data to these ends. Likewise, Maya has been actively involved with a variety of committees—primarily focused on diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism—both at CUNY Law and in the greater law school admissions community. Maya is currently a member of the Annual Meeting of Law School Diversity Professionals’ Planning Committee and the Law School Admission Council’s (LSAC) RISE Alliance Advisory Council, and she previously served as chair of the LSAC’s Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) Subcommittee from Fall 2021 to Spring 2023, and helped plan the Law School Anti-Racism Consortium’s (LSARC) Symposium on Coalition Building & Intersectionality, which was hosted at CUNY Law in September 2022. Prior to working at CUNY Law, Maya was a substitute teacher at several NYC public schools, including a 5-week stint teaching chemistry at Brooklyn Technical High School. Maya received Bachelors degrees in Geography and Environmental Planning from Binghamton University, where she also received her MPA and a Certificate in Local Government Management. In her free time, Maya plays on two softball teams, enjoys playing and writing music, cooking, and exploring NYC by bike. She is also a 3rd generation Brooklynite, cat lady, and aspiring plant lady, as well as a religious fan of the New York Mets and Rangers.
