The CUNY School of Professional Studies Black Student Union (BSU) invites all Black graduates from the Class of 2024 to take part in the 2024 Black Graduation Ceremony.

Date: Wednesday, May 15, 2024

Time: Ceremony begins at 7:00 PM, Eastern

Format: This event is offered in a hybrid format so that all who wish to participate may do so. On campus attendance will be limited based on public safety and fire code regulations. Online attendance will take place via Zoom. All registered graduates will be sent the link to the online ceremony. 

Location: The on campus ceremony will take part at the CUNY School of Professional Studies, 119 W. 31st Street, 4th Floor, New York City. The ceremony will be streamed live for those taking part online. 

On Campus Guests: While we would love to welcome all of our graduates' friends and family to attend the ceremony, on campus attendance will be limited based on public safety and fire code regulations. The BSU and Student Life are monitoring the registration, and will follow up with graduates to confirm the number of guests who may attend on campus.

Accessibility: The event will include American Sign Language interpreters and live captioning for those attending on campus as well as online. If other accommodations are needed, you can let us know about those when you register. 

COVID Protocols: All those attending the ceremony on campus must agree to abide by the COVID protocols in place at the time of the ceremony.

 

Please note: Registering for the Black Graduation Ceremony does not register you for the CUNY SPS Commencement ceremony, and vice versa.

About the Black Graduation Ceremony

The Black Graduation Ceremony is a pre-Commencement celebration to honor Black students who have successfully completed an undergraduate degree, graduate degree, certificate, or advanced certificate from the CUNY School of Professional Studies. Hosted annually by the School's Black Student Union, this ceremony is a celebration for graduating students to be recognized for their accomplishments and provided an opportunity to honor significant people who have helped them achieve their goal.

Participation in the 2024 CUNY SPS Black Graduation Ceremony is open to all CUNY SPS students who have earned their degree between August 2023, January 2024, February 2024, or are scheduled to earn their degree in June 2024.
