From First-Generation Student to Faculty Member: Advice, Insights, and Success Stories

Thursday, April 20, 2023

12:00 PM - 1:00 PM, Eastern

Did you know that a number of CUNY SPS faculty members were once first-generation college students themselves? Join us for a roundtable discussion with eight SPS instructors who will discuss their experiences as first-generation college students, share tips for success, and offer advice on overcoming challenges first-gen students may face. The conversation will be followed by a Q&A and moderated by the co-organizers of the First-Generation Student Success Series, Dr. Carla Marquez-Lewis (Psychology) and Dr. Elizabeth Alsop (Communication and Media). Students can read about participating faculty and pre-submit any questions they have for our panelists here.
