Derek Irby is an Adjunct Lecturer who has taught in the Business and Management Departments at several City University of New York (CUNY) schools since 2004. Mr. Irby has taught both on-line and in-class business courses at the School of Professional Studies (SPS), Baruch College, Hostos Community College and the College NOW Program which is hosted by Bronx Community College. His concentrations are in the following areas: Principles in Management, Small Business Management, Introduction to Business and Entrepreneurship Management. In addition, he has conducted a seminar to train graduating seniors who were competing in a national entrepreneurship competition representing CUNY and has served as the Academic Community Leader for the undergraduate program at SPS.

Professionally, Mr. Irby has been a real estate and economic development executive who has experience in managing, marketing, and developing real estate portfolios. In a career spanning over 30 years, Mr. Irby has worked for private developers, economic development corporations and Business Improvement Districts. Mr. Irby holds a BA in American Government and Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia and an MBA in Entrepreneurship from the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College.
