The CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS) Youth Studies program is proud to launch our 2026 programming, centered around the theme of Reimagining Justice through Art.

This year’s Community and Youth Organizing Series features two powerful documentaries and a dynamic panel discussion exploring how art, creativity, and performance fuel movements for justice. Through thought-provoking films and conversations, the series highlights the transformative role of artistic expression in community organizing and social change.

The first event in the series is Clips and Conversation with IMPACT.

Professor Lumumba Bandele will moderate a dynamic conversation featuring youth artists and leaders from IMPACT Repertory Theatre, a nationally recognized performance company that transforms personal stories and current events into powerful calls for justice.

Virtual via Zoom

Discover the power of youth leadership and creative activism through IMPACT Repertory Theatre Performance Company, a performance company where young people transform current events and personal experiences into art that inspires action. Reaching more than 25,000 people each year, from the United Nations to NYC City Hall, IMPACT uses performance as a platform for truth, healing, and change. Their intensive twelve-week Boot Camp develops emerging leaders through training in public speaking, service, and artistic expression. Grounded in the belief that leadership begins with service, IMPACT members also give back through community initiatives, including visits to nursing homes, food drives, and neighborhood cleanups.

This panel will highlight their powerful model of leadership, artistry, and community impact.
