Janice Bloomfield-Alves, EdD, RNC is an assistant professor at Medgar Evers College department of nursing. Bloomfield-Alves holds a BS and MS in Nursing from the State University of New York, and a doctorate degree in educational leadership. She has over 25 years of nursing experience working in a variety of specialties, including community health/public health nursing, maternal and child health nursing, and nursing education. Dr. Alves participated in and facilitated training for students in a National HIV Curriculum Integration program provided by Howard University. Dr. Alves has also been involved in extensive professional development, and grant writing. Dr. Bloomfield-Alves worked as a nurse educator for a large hospital system where she was responsible for the training of new nurses, nursing staff, cross-training of nurses, and the implementation of new programs. She has taught at the LPN, Associate RN, RN to BS, BS, Accelerated BS, and Masters degree nursing program levels. Her interest lies in community health, women and children’s health, nursing ethics, and research. Dr. Alves is currently involved in a community-based research project focused on attachment, anti-violence and anti-bullying. Her writing and research focuses on anti bullying, nursing ethics, and behavioral health issues.
