Youth Organizing Economic Justice:  Panel Discussion

During this session of the CUNY SPS Youth Studies Community and Youth Organizing Series we heard from three of many youth organizing efforts in NYC where young people are pushing for greater economic justice in a time when NYC is becoming increasingly unlivable for young adults.

Professor Lumumba Bandele engaged in conversation with members of the NYC Union Students, a group of NYC college students organizing for higher education funding justice; from members of NYC Youth Agenda Coalition, who discussed their policy recommendations in relation to housing, transportation, jobs and food access; and lastly, from young people from Youth N Power who are working with youth who are transitioning out of the child welfare system and fighting for 5 years of basic income support from New York State.

Watch the discussion and get inspired by the powerful work these groups are doing to ensure that ALL young people can thrive in NYC and figure out ways YOU can become allies in the fight!
