In today's job market, neurodivergent job seekers still face hiring processes that often favor neurotypical communication and interaction styles. Many standard job search strategies, from resume writing to interviewing, can present unique challenges for neurodivergent individuals. Understanding how to navigate these barriers while leveraging personal strengths is essential for navigating the job market. This session, led by Daniel Rothenberg, an autistic Recruiter at Integrate Autism Employment Advisors, a nonprofit whose vision is to help organizations become more neuroinclusive by identifying, recruiting and retaining autistic talent, will provide practical guidance on job searching, interviewing, and networking from a neurodivergent perspective. Topics will include:

  • Resume & Job Search Strategies: How to effectively highlight strengths, structure resumes for clarity, and navigate online job applications.
  • Interviewing with Confidence: Tips for understanding the typical interview format , deciding whether to disclose neurodivergence, advocating for accommodations, and preparing for common interview challenges.
  • Networking: How to build meaningful professional connections during your search, identify trusted mentors to help you in the process, and leverage LinkedIn to showcase your strengths, expand your network, and explore new career opportunities in ways that align with neurodivergent strengths and preferences.

This session is designed for neurodivergent college students and recent graduates, career changers, and educators or career advisors, as well as other higher education professionals who support neurodivergent students and graduates. Attendees will gain actionable strategies that help neurodivergent individuals find meaningful employment.
