Speaker Bio
Casey Sung grew up in Flushing, Queens as an immigrant kid from South Korea in the late ‘70s. Unable to speak English and frustrated, he often got in trouble. Fortunately, he found a hobby in computer programming, which became his lifelong interest. When Casey couldn’t afford the $3,000 tuition in 1988, he dropped out of college to work at a grocery store (by then, he was an expert grocer, having worked at his parents’ store for too many summers). He spent the evenings and weekends after work to self-study computing and programming. Eventually, he was fortunate to have landed jobs at various companies, including Ziff Davis Publishing, Chase, McKinsey & Co, and Columbia University, amongst many others. Along the way, somehow, Casey started and sold two tech companies. 25 years after he left college, while running his second company, Casey finally earned his Bachelor’s degree, CUNY SPS ‘14, Business Management. He continued to earn his MBA, SUNY Poly ‘16. Casey today leads the Digital CRM Practice at Slalom LLC (Westchester Market), a global consulting firm of over 8,000 professionals.
Casey doesn't know that he's too old to e-board or snowboard. When he's not getting hurt trying these sports, he grows food in his urban backyard garden. When he's not doing that, he welcomes the opportunity to share his career or life experiences (mostly what not to do).
Casey lives with his soul mate of 33 years, son, daughter, and a rescue cat in Great Neck, NY.
