Angela Adler is the inaugural director of disability inclusive culture at NYU. In their role, Angela leads, supports, and engages university-wide initiatives to promote an integrative, intersectional, and collaborative approach to cultivating an institutionally embedded disability inclusive culture at NYU. They work strategically across disciplines and schools to advance disability inclusive culture and provide education and support across constituent groups with an initial strategic focus on faculty-centered pathways. Angela brings a lifelong commitment to equity for people with disabilities that has shaped every aspect of their interdisciplinary education, professional, volunteer, and personal experiences. Angela is disabled and remains anchored in the disability inclusive community in which they grew up by continuing to engage with the Verizon Pioneers Sports Jamboree in Pennsylvania. Angela has earned a master’s degree in Anthropology and Social Change from the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS); a bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Pittsburgh; and has worked in education, clinical settings, and the arts. Angela is currently finishing their PhD in Sociology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL).
