Speaker Bio
The CUNY Coalition for Students with Disabilities (CCSD) has been a cornerstone of advocacy and support for students with disabilities across the City University of New York system for over three decades. With a rich history of promoting inclusivity, equity, and access, CCSD serves as a vibrant community where students, allies, and advocates work tirelessly to dismantle barriers and create an academic environment where every student can flourish.

At the heart of CCSD's mission lies a commitment to advocating for disability rights, raising awareness, and ensuring proper accommodations within the CUNY community and beyond. This mission is brought to life through proactive engagement, policy advocacy, and collaborative partnerships aimed at securing full inclusion for students with disabilities in all facets of academic and campus life.

CCSD offers a range of services and programs designed to bolster student success, such as peer mentoring, accessibility workshops, and advocacy campaigns. Moreover, the coalition plays an active role in shaping and implementing policy, collaborating closely with university administration, faculty, and various stakeholders to foster a more inclusive and accessible educational landscape.

Leadership within CCSD is in the hands of a dedicated group of student leaders elected by their peers to represent the interests of more than 10,000 students with disabilities university-wide. These leaders bring diverse experiences and perspectives to the coalition, united by a common goal of building a welcoming community for all students. Through their efforts, CCSD champions an environment of mutual respect, understanding, and support, ensuring that the voices of students with disabilities are heard and valued across the CUNY system.
