Town Hall: Participatory Budgeting

Dean Jorge Silva-Puras hosts the first Town Hall of the fall semester for the staff and faculty of CUNY SPS.
State of the School address by Dean Silva-Puras, as well as an update on the return to campus by Washington Hernandez, Associate Dean of Administration and Finance.
The second portion of the event features an introduction to Participatory Budgeting at CUNY SPS, with an interactive conversation led by Sarah Zeller-Berkman, Academic Director, Youth Studies programs, MInely Ulloa-Rodriguez, Director of Budget and Finance, and Tracy Meade, Senior Associate Dean for Strategy and Innovation.
At it's core, participatory budgeting creates a democratic method by which communities can decide how to spend a portion of a public budget. For our School, the participatory budgeting process allows any member(s) of the CUNY SPS community—students, faculty, administrative staff, etc.—to create proposals and vote to fund projects which address concerns or create opportunities to improve CUNY SPS.
A dedicated Q&A period will follow each presentation.
